It smells like fish.

Random fact number one: soldiers were paid with salt..which is were we get salary and sal became the french word solde and then out of all that came soldier. thats pretty random

Random fact number two: romans salted there greens and somewhere out of that they got salad..I'm not to sure how but salt created soldiers and salad

Random fact number three: to see if brine was salty enough, they saw if eggs or potatoes would float on it...that would have to be pretty salty.

Well after I learned all these brilliant random facts I started reading about fish. Fish, in my opinion, is very disgusting and smelly. First there was the salt trade and now the fish trade. I lost interest in this chapter pretty quickly.

I'm not sure how the purple dye thing works or why it made them rich. I guess they didnt know how to dye clothes? But if the stupid celts could do it I dont know why the intelligent Romans couldnt.

Are we almost done reading this book of nonsense?!?!?!?!?!

It is pretty weird how we got soldier and salary from this. I think it is cool how salt was able to not only connect countries, but also become the origin of several words. I also thought that this chapter was not very interesting.

yea i kno what you mean about this chapter because i was also board reading it. It was interesting that potatoes could float extremely salty brine. It is kind of like the salt lake where people can float.

Well, first of all, I'd like to express my intense anger at the replanting of Antonio. What jerk did that?! Seriously?! And I think I would be vair vair upset if someone paid me in salt. That would be disappointing. And I can't say much else because I'm home sick and do not have my Salt book, thus I cannot read and do my happy blogging.

I think it's pretty interesting to see where words originate from, such as soldier, saline, salary, salad, etc. Unlike your snipes of "Random Facts", I think you are missing the point of this whole assignment. Your attitude isn't exactly helping you grade here. You keep falling off topic, and limiting yourself to things you like & dislike.

While I can certainly understand you maybe not liking fish, it is however a mainstay for many cultures. However comments like "I lost interest in this chapter pretty quickly." is a cop out. What we read does not always have to "entertain" or please you. I expect more from an honors student.
